My name is Rachel Smith and welcome to my digital portfolio!

I am currently a Master's student at Middle Tennessee State University studying Public History with an Archival Management concentration. As a Graduate Assistant, I work at the Albert Gore Research Center processing university and political collections, providing reference services, and conducting social media outreach.

Knowing I always wanted to study history, I entered Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas in 2007 trying to figure out a career path. Through internships with the Arkansas Secretary of State Office Capital Historian, Ellis Island Immigration Museum, Ghana Public Records Public Records and Archives Administration Department, and the William J. Clinton Presidential Library, I discovered my passion of working in archives preserving documents and serving researchers.

I decided to continue my studies in public history because it would allow me to study the past, interpretation, and archival theory. Through my master's program, I have had the opportunity to work on various archival, interpretive, and research projects.
